Team Zav win the War

TEAM Zav brought the rich spoils of the APG Gold Bullion Finals back to Victoria when War Dan Buddy narrowly won the $400,000 Colts & Geldings Final at Menangle on Saturday night.

Driver Cameron Hart and War Dan Buddy caused an upset when they bloused the Emma Stewart trained stable mate and $1.60 favorite Stormryder on the line, getting the verdict by a short half head.

Hart gave the son of Art Major the run of the race in the one out one back trail tracking the favorite who was caught parked outside the WA youngster Ten To The Dozen.

War Dan Buddy wore the back of Stormdryer until Hart eased out to the middle of the track on turning for home and his charge dug deep over the concluding stages to get up and score on the line.

Owner Danny Zavitsanos and his wife Joanna were track side to witness the APG win. “I just love harness racing and I love these big races and winning is the cherry on top, I’m here with my wife and a big shout out to my mate, Warren, whenever we speak he calls me buddy and we have this little champ together and its just fantastic, I’m ecstatic” Danny said.
